Joe Hamilton

 

Played quarterback for Georgia Tech from 1996 to 1999. Set Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) career records for total offense (10,640 yards), touchdown passes (65), and total touchdowns (83). As a senior in 1999, was recognized as a consensus first-team All American, won the Davey O'Brien Award, and was the runner-up in the Heisman voting.

 

Whack Hyder

 

Lettered in baseball, basketball, track, and cross country at Georgia Tech (1933-1937). In 1951, became Tech's head coach where he remained until 1973. He is the second winningest coast in Tech basketball history with 292 wins. Led the Yellow Jackets to their first-ever NHCAA Tournament appearance in 1960. In 1971, Georgia Tech reached the NIT championship game.

Andruw Jones

 

Anchored the Atlanta Braves outfield from 1996-2007. He was a 5x All-Star (2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006) and a 10x Gold Glove Award (1998 - 2007) winner while with the Braves. Jones' breakout season was in 2005 winning the Silver Slugger Award, the NL Hank Aaron Award, MLB home run leader (51 HRs), and the NL RBI leader (128 RBI).

 

Leo Mazzone

Earned a reputation as one of the best pitching coaches of the modern era. His dominant pitchers anchored the Braves' run of 14 consecutive division titles (1991 - 2005), five National League pennants (1991-1992, 1995-1996, 1999) and the 1995 World Series championship. Between 1991 and 1998, 3 of his pitchers won a total of 6 Cy Young Awards, ESPN.com lists Mazzone as number one on the list of "Top 10 Assistant Coaches of All-Time."

 

 

Gerald Riggs

 

Falcons first-round draft pick in 1982. A superb rusher and pass receiver out of the backfield, Riggs made the Pro Bowl three times while with the Falcons (1985-1987). His best season was in 1985, when he rushed for 1,719 yards and ten touchdowns, while also catching 33 passes for 167 yards. In his seven years with the Falcons, he rushed for 6,631 yards, making him the franchise all-time leading rusher.
